Snoba Case Study
Dr Pepper Float (with cherry jelly boba)
We are excited to introduce The Dr Pepper Float which is a new unique item on the Snoba menu. The Dr Pepper Float will be a combination between a smoothie, snow boy and include boba. The smoothies are made of all fresh, NON GMO ingredients, the snow boy’s are a Korena shaved ice garnished with a variety of toppings and the jelly boba is a popping boba which has a burst of flavor. Boba is quite the experience for the consumer, with many different sensations occurring with each sip. With all of these features the new drink Dr Pepper Float will be creamy, sweet, icey and most importantly, delicious. The highlight of this item will be the cherry jelly boba because of how much it will add with each burst of juicy flavor. With Snoba being locally owned we wanted a drink that was fresh, new, and exciting to entice the local community to try this local establishment.
Ingredients
The ingredients for the Dr. Pepper Float will include crisp Dr Pepper, which is a local and regional favorite among Texans. The next ingredient is bingsu and cherry jelly boba. Bingsu is shaved ice from Korea, which is crafted out of frozen cream or milk. A knife is used to shape it and make it fluffy like snow. The experience of partaking in Korean Bingsu is one that the local Wichita Falls Community can not miss out. Cherry jelly boba is already on the menu but we added it to our drink to make the Dr. Pepper have more flavor. The combination of Cherry and Dr. Pepper is not a new combination; however, our group feels that with this cultural spin, it will feel brand new.
Why?
We chose a Dr Pepper Float because in Texas Dr Pepper is one of the top five best selling sodas. Not only is it one of the most popular sodas, but Dr. Pepper was also founded in Texas as well. After we heard that the owner wanted a drink on the menu with Dr Pepper in it we knew what we had to create. We landed on a Dr Pepper Float. Snoba is known as one of the best Asian dessert cafes offering a wide variety of drinks and desserts all made with fresh ingredients. This new menu item is a combination between their smoothie and snow boy but will still include their bingsu to keep the drink creamy and icey. Imagine a crisp cold Dr Pepper with creamy and icey bingsu topped with cherry bursting boba. At Snoba they believe in having a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and a stylish interior. This drink is an excellent representation of the company because it is fun, different and tasteful.
Our Recipe
Our Dr. Pepper float recipe will be made with half bingsu and half Dr. Pepper blended together and topped with cherry jelly boba. The cherry jelly boba will add a flavorful pop to the Dr. Pepper and Bingsu. This new menu item includes simple ingredients that are easily accessible to the restaurant. We did not want to create something that seemed almost impossible to make because of all the extra resources and ingredients needed. Our goal was to ensure that the ingredients were items easily attainable to Snoba, and would not break the bank. In combination with that, we wanted to ensure that the drink fit with the current offerings of Snoba while keeping with Snoba’s ethos.
Price
The price of this drink is $6; We suggest that the price of our Dr. Pepper Float should fall into the pricing category of the smoothie, which is $5.50. Since we are adding boba and it is an extra .50 cents and is included on top of our drink, we decided on a base price of $6. We are using the cherry jelly boba and bingsu which is already at the restaurant, so we did not feel like the drink needed to be any more expensive than anything else on the menu. We believe this is a reasonable price and aligns with Snoba’s pricing very well.
Selling Point
Our selling point will be that this drink will be very attractive on the menu because it is a new product that sounds and tastes very appealing. This new menu item combines two fan favorite items; Dr. Pepper and bingsu and adds cherry flavored boba all into one. The crisp refreshing taste of Dr. Pepper that all Texans love, mixed with the light, fluffy and creamy taste of the bingsu sets this product apart from the rest of Snowba’s menu items. Additionally customers will also agree that the taste of this product will stand out as well considering that the locals of Wichita Falls have not tasted anything like this.
Our Ad Mockup
For our ad mockup, we wanted to highlight the ingredients visually, so we made a graphic of what the Dr Pepper smoothie would look like after it’s been blended together. Then to highlight that the main ingredient is Dr. Pepper we made the illusion on a split graphic by putting the Dr. Pepper can as the other half. As for the color scheme we researched Dr Pepper’s brand color code so that we could match our content to our main ingredient. We also wanted to make sure that the drink kept with the current menu items that Snoba has. We thought that the best way to accomplish this would be by making the illustration look visually similar to the already pictured drinks on the menu. In contrast, we also wanted to make sure that consumers who might be hesitant to try Korean desserts would find solace in the brand affiliation with Dr. Pepper.
